PAQ - Possible Asked Questions
Q1: Can I really use this test at home without medical training?
Yes. The test is designed for self-use, with easy instructions and simple urine sampling. No blood draw or special tools needed.
Q2: Is the urine-based HIV test accurate?
Yes. This test has 100% sensitivity and 96.2% specificity in clinical trials. However, all results should be confirmed by medical professionals.
Q3: When should I take the test after a potential exposure?
It is recommended to test at least 3-4 weeks after suspected exposure. If negative, retest after 12 weeks to confirm due to the HIV window period.
Q4: What if the test shows a positive result?
A positive result suggests HIV antibodies are present. Do not panic. Visit a healthcare provider for further confirmatory tests like ELISA or Western blot.
Q5: What if the result is invalid?
If no control line (C) appears, the test is invalid. Discard and repeat with a new test kit.
Q6: Can medications affect the test result?
No. The test has no interference from common drugs (e.g. amphetamines, mor phine, T HC) or common HIV antivirals (e.g. ritonavir, nevirapine).
Q7: Is it safe and private to use this test?
Yes. The test is non-invasive, requires only urine, and can be performed privately at home. Dispose of the kit properly after use.
